The Octal Signature 30W or 15W
Description:
The Octal Signature is culmination of many years of work and research into making the ultimate octal amp. The Octal Signature amp draws from the Fender Dual Professional, Woody Pro, and early Bassman as well the early Gibson GA series and 40’s and 50’s Valco made amps. It has a warm, articulate cleans and powerful vintage overdrive. Unlike many vintage amps the Octal Signature has less floor noise, has the ability to go from a firm bottom end to compressed tube rectifier tones, can use most power tubes, and has a body control that allows you to get Champ like sounds too. The Voicing Switch has a standard thick n’ rich tweed position, a cleaner than stock position, and leaner crunchier British position.. Wow! Perfect early 50’s tones that will get along with any guitar.

“Hi Carl
The sound is bold and sweet (almost with a violin-like character) without being in any way harsh. I think the goal here was that of an amp similar to a Fender Twin but of more manageable amperage (and price), and this certainly achieves that end. I had difficulty suspending my playing long enough to send you this note. This amp catches every nuance of the guitar (73 Black Beauty with Fralin Pure PAF humbuckers), with nice tight notes from the low E string, without any trace of muddiness. I keep the "Voicing" knob at mid-position, still experimenting with the Sag. This is exactly what I had in mind when discussing amp options with you in July. This is finally the amp I've been wanting you to build for me (but given the above, don't be surprised if we discuss a Carl's Custom JTM-45 in the not-too-distant future).
Carry on, Dennis”

The 30W Octal Signature ships with 5881s or KT66s and the 15W version ships with 6V6s. I offer several speaker cabinets. They can be loaded with 50’s style Alinco speaker for smoky tones, more compression and early breakup, Ceramic American speakers for sparkle, great breakup, and more headroom than the Alinco or British style speaker for punch and growl.
