Mods for Fender Blues Junior

Improves the tone and reliability of your amp!

Note: we will stop offering mods for the Blues Jr. 4/17. If you would like yours done, please set up the service before that date.

Introduction

The Fender Blues Junior is one most common and affordable tube amps out there. The price tag let just about any play buy one which is great thing. However, the Blues Junior tends to sound thin, harsh, and not nearly as lively as vintage amp. At Carl’s Custom Amps we can modify your Blues Junior to give it a fuller, richer, more complex tone and increase the reliability. It is a good option for players who want more of the amp. For players looking so smoothing totally different we can rebuild the amp into something else.

What Needs Doing:

  • Upgrade the Electrolytic Caps for better sound

  • Tweak the circuit for more harmonics and fuller richer sound

  • Add a bias pot so the output stage can be properly biased

  • Make circuit changes to improve power tube reliability

  • Replace the output transformer with a larger, better-quality transformer for more umph and clarity

  • We recommend replacing the speaker for better sound. You can choose the Weber 12F150 for a classic Fender sound or a Weber Legacy for those looking for a more barking yet warm British tone

Mods run $325 without the speaker. Call or email us today to get the process started.

Customer Feedback:

“Aloha Carl,

after 2 gigs at normal volume and I can tell you the amp definitely sounds better. Fuller, rounder bottom end & lower mids, just a bit more girth throughout, I gotta think a lot of that is your OT. The amp runs cooler, and the tone knob is more usable, can use more of the sweep of the pot. Money well spent!

mucho mahalos!”
