Description:

The Tumblin' Dice (in honor of Keith Richards) is our take on the 1959 Fender 5F8A High Powered Twin that captures the sound but with small circuit improvements that make the amp more reliable, and less noisy.  Properly setup the High-Power Twin is one of the greatest amps ever created.  The cleans are amazing with rich mid-range character and powerful low end. As the amp is turned up it gets thick to-die-for overdrive. Every note is thunderous and touch sensitive.  You don't just play this one--- you feel it.  It takes pedals like a dream!

It' can be ordered as a head, 2X12 combo with Weber Alinco speakers for authentic 50's Twin sounds or with Celestion Lead 80 speakers like Keith Richards and Joe Bonamassa use, or as 1x12 Combo with various speaker options. I offer the amp with 40W or 80W power sections so players who need less power can get it and still get great Tweed Twin tone.

  • “Carl,

Got the amp……and it sounds great! I’ve A/B’d it with my ’59 Twin and it matches up really well. Probably will take it out for my New Year’s gig.  I hope i can finally retire my old Marshall Super Lead. Thanks again for everything!”

“Being primarily a Hiwatt guy, I’ve long been Fender-curious.   But my previous ventures into Leo-land had been frustrating- I just couldn’t quite figure out which model correlated with the sound in my head.   Carl patiently listened to my ramblings on the phone, and succinctly offered his two cents- “sounds like you’re thinking of a Tweed Twin.”   Trusting him, I opted for the 40 watt Tumblin’ Dice with two Weber speakers and the verdict is…he was absolutely right!    Vintage sounding (but without the reliability problems), with crystalline highs and punchy lows, this amp simply roars.   It puts all the previous modern Fender circuits repro’s I’ve had to shame.   Can’t recommend the product or the builder enough!”

“Have to tell you, this thing is amazing. I know you don't need my stamp if approval, but I really love this amp.

I've had 3 of the custom shop Bonamassa high powered twins (at different times over the last few years), vintage blackface vibrolux, vintage blackface super reverb, Vintage Silver Jubilee,.... you name it.

I've enjoyed your amp more than any of those so far.

Thanks again. I will definitely be looking at your site when the amp budget builds back up.

    Joe”

    “ Hi Carl,

As I said before and I will say it again, you are a wizard in my eyes but most importantly my EARS! The amp arrived the other day and every chance I get I mess around with it. The tones out of this thing are amazing. Very tight when set clean and when cranked and overdriven, its very hard to put any kind of pedal in front of it even if its just boost because it sounds so natural and just raw! I've watched interviews on Joe Bonamassa and how talks about high powered twins. He uses terms and phrases like "the notes bloom" and "squish". I couldn’t really grasp the concept from just listening to a youtube video. But once I played the tumbling dice, everything clicked in my head and I could not only hear what Joe was talking about but I could also FEEL it. Its true what you say in your description of this model. This is an amp that you feel when you play it! I am so happy I ordered it with the alnico speakers. A whole different world compared to a ceramic speaker. A little brighter but very tight and clear. I was pretty hesistant at first only because this is a whole new amp experience for me between the speaker choice and the power tubes being 5881's as opposed to today's standards of either 6L6's or EL84's/34's. But I was looking for the most "vintage" and "period correct tone" I could possibly get. Especially when looking into buying a tweed amp... the tones of a tweed twin are not something to take lightly or cut corners on. Not to mention, with your patience and guidance between answering every single question of mine and never skipping a beat when it comes to replying to the abundance of emails, I still would probably be looking into something that would have disappointed me down the line. Again I am beyond thankful and appreciative of your help and honored to have spoken with you on the topic of tweed amps in general. To be quite frank, this is actually one of the brighter amps I've played in my time. Yet the midrange still manages to cut through and makes sure everyone who's listening knows that its there. I have been running my E.Q. pretty much slightly boosted. The only thing that remains flat is the treble knob. Other than that, the bass, mids, and presence knobs are all at about 8.5. After that, I adjust both volumes from there to taste. In conclusion, your tumbling dice model is an absolute gem and I anticipate taking this piece to the grave with me. Thank you again!”

    “Carl,

The amp arrived on Saturday, December 29th and it sounds great!

NO ICE PICK TONE!!!!  Thank God.

I like very much that I can get breakup at around 5 instead of my friends Hi Powered Twin at 7 or 8.  No problem with the neighbors so far.

Again thanks for a great amp!

    All the best,

    Jim”
