Description:

The sound of the Vox AC-30 is iconic. Bright, chimey, jangly when clean and with a throaty, crunchy, aggressive overdrive when pushed are all good descriptors. Tom Petty, the Beatles, Brian May of Queen, U2’s The Edge, and so many others have used this style of amp. As fine as the original amp were, most of the sounds players want to hear happen at volumes that are far too loud to practice at home and more than for most clubs will allow. Players are forced to resort to master volumes, elaborate pedal setups, and earplugs to deal with the volume. That’s where the British Royale 15 comes in! It’s equipped with London Power Scaling so you can play quietly or be heard in any gig situation with transparent power reduction and real power tube overdrive at any volume.

The British Royale 15 based on the Top Boost channel but with a smoother character to avoid the harshness that sometime plagues these amps. To make things even better I have added a mids control for more eq options and SAG control for varying the feel of the rectifier. Fat and boost switches allow the amp to get along with any style of pickups. Unlike 60’s Vox’s or their clones this amp won’t eat power tubes or overheat.

The British Royale is available as a 1x12 combo or head. Upon request it can be built as a 30W amp with four El-84s.

London Power’s Power Scaling:

The AC series amps are incredibly  loud amps and were designed for big stages.  They are too loud for most players to use even in a club setting when cranked.  London  Power Scaling allows the player to dial in anything from full power down to 1/10W.  So these amp are capable of playing anything form a bedroom to a stadium.  Many amps have  "wattage" and "power" controls that sound unnatural. London Power’s Power Scaling  is different from these and very transparent.  Any setting below full power it extends the life of the power tubes.

Other Features:

SAG Control:

Instead of a tube rectifier we’ve added SAG control. It allows the user to adjust the sag/compression and makes the amp more reliable! Tight solid-state rectifier sounds to tweed like sag can be achieved with the twist of a knob.

Spec/Features:

All tube,  Volume, boost switch, fat Switch,  treble, mids, bass, and cut, SAG, power and limit controls,  ON/ OFF Switch, fan cooled,  hand wired for great sound and reliability with a method that shortens the signal path, super quiet grounding for low noise, special resistor selection for low noise and great tone, cathode bias. 8 ohm speaker outs

Parts:
Malory 150 and Panasonic Tone Caps, Panasonic/Nichicon Ultra Long Life Filter caps, Heyboer or Hammond Output transformer, custom made toroidal power transformer, Cliff jacks (made in the UK),, 12 ft power cord JJ's Tubes.

Don’t waste your time or blow out you ear drums—get awesome tone!

Customer Comments:

“I’ve really been enjoying the British Royale, I never thought I could be a guitarist that uses the volume knob to finetune distorted/clean tones, but this amp makes it effortless! I’ve gotten the hang of the drive, limit, and volume knobs and the tone control knob definitely helps to find the right way to cut thru a mix with a band or for recording.

Sincerely,

Eric A.”

“Carl,
I’ve always been a early fender amp guy but this British Royal 15 is amazing! This is without a doubt the most versatile Vox style amp I’ve ever played. It’s the only amp in my arsenal that can sound great in the bedroom or at the show. Thanks for taking the time to find what I was looking for and how to make it a reality!
